Dyson Space
Designing for protection against COVID-19 while using public transport
The Dyson Space is an unconventional piece of wearable technology, that expands to maintain the 1 metre distance while in public, and contracts when not in use, using the mechanics of telescopic arms.
After the pandemic, the product can be dissembled. The telescopic arms will be recycled, and the belt can continue to be used as fashion accessory.
The key highlight of this project was the sketch modelling and testing.
Model Making
During the initial exploration, a variety of ideas were explored and analysed for suitability and convenience.
A breakfast cereal dispensing system was selected to be developed further. This choice was backed by research and an understanding of consumer patterns.
