Design Sprint Brief :
Consider the challenges faced by healthcare professionals and clinicians during their day to day activities of reporting, referring, collating and referencing data and information. Identify their challenges and define a solution that solves the opportunities you identify, fully justifying your recommendations and further fully presenting back your recommendation and further development of your solution as a fully defined design, ready for manufacture.
This project was part of a 5 day Design Sprint conducted in
groups of 8 to find a solution. The refined concept was then
further developed individually by me over 2 weeks and
delivered to FutureNova.
Refined Brief
Design a device that allows for smooth communication and data transfer between nurses and doctors, during and in between their shifts in wards. The solution should reduce the burden of the patient data recording and transfer, while being easily accessible. The device needs to be low cost and provide a return on investment.
Concept
Digitalising note-taking and communications in the hospital environment. By transferring information through digital means, the product seeks eliminate loss of information or miscommunication that occurs by during human interactions.
Manufacturing

Interface and Electronics
An accompanying iPad app will support the data entry during nurse and doctor rounds. As the NHS already has an established network of iPads in use, the app feature can be utilised with no extra cost. An electronic prototype was developed to demonstrate the communication between the iPad and the BioLogger.
